Let's do coffee
When u run into someone u haven’t seen in a while, they (or you) might throw around the phrase “let’s do coffee next week,” without the slightest intention of doing so.
I’ve always disliked that and thought that it made people sound flaky and insincere…… until recently, when I noticed that I’ve become one of these people !

I guess it’s just a way of parting ways un-awkwardly, cos let’s face it, it’s much easier than saying “ok, bye now” or “take care, until I run into you again.”
What I usually try to do is say “it was good to see you” – but every now and then that old coffee phrase still slips out :o)

It sure does, unintentionally that is. I sometimes try to follow-up on this social "farewell" and there is no reply. It seems that it was indeed after all only a goodbye.
I would much prefer, "Take care, until destiny brings us back together.. I bid you farewell."
hi..i want 2 tickets..howwwww tell meee????? 80 is cool with me
and yeahhh i do the thing ' coffe nxt week " thingy..didnt u ever wonder why coffe?? why not dinner cuz maybe its alot more commitment in it than simply coffe
what goes around, comes around ;) i know what ur talking about, same crap happened with me... its like that episode in friends when chandler was trying to dump rachels mom on each date and keeps ending the conversation with "this was great, we shud do it again sometime"
i only have one ticket, you want it Pink?
lets go for coffee this weekl...lol
Ya, i use it too except i don't say "lets do coffee"; i say something like: "Let's do something soon. I'll call u." Of course, with no intention of doing so. Like u said, it's better than just saying "bye" cuz it's kinda awkward.
n.: exactly, i guess ppl are non-confrontational by nature
pink: hehe totally, coffee is a 45-min thing, while dinner is more like 1.5h
fonzy: haha yeah ! except it was rachel's boos, not her mom ;)
maze: sorry can't i'm busy :P
shoush: yup that's what o'm talking about; maybe it's better to say "let's talk soon" so that the ball isn't in your court...
Or how about this one: Where you meet someone you're in a hurry or they're in a hurry, at the end one throws out a quick "Call me, K? Laters!". That way she's removed the responsibility from herself :p
n.: genius !
i always just say
I'll be back !!! with Arnold accent ... regardless of the situation
"3ad khanshoofik/shoofkum/shoofich.."
"inshoofkum 3ala khair"
and they all equal see you soon, that's easy, I think the HARDEST thing is when they ask u wainkum? lesh ga63een? wain ekhtifaitaw?
meemo: i think it would frek ppl out if i did that :/
hammooddee: ee, or waynetch yal ga63a !
I'd go with Hammooodeee on this :)
I wonder if you can get away saying : If I see you again, it'll only be too soon and if I do, let's do coffee shall we?"
:)
