Need to make 'military' recruitment mandatory KUWAIT CITY, Feb 25: Islamist MPs have called on the government to re-introduce the mandatory conscription system but in accordance with new rules and principles that conform to the current political and social realities, reports Al-Nahar quoting reliable sources as saying. According to sources, the parliamentary request came after the Parliamentary Committee for Negative Phenomena and Conducts observed that a large number of Kuwaiti youth are adopting some foreign and strange habits which do not go well with the values of the Kuwaiti society. Sources added that implementation of mandatory military recruitment will go a long way to change those negative habits. The MPs also urged the government to grant moral and material incentives to attract Kuwaiti youth to the military and to serve the motherland.
