salary increment of KD 150

KUWAIT : Kuwaiti employees in both the private and public sectors will receive a salary increment of KD 150 regardless of their basic salaries, reliable sources told the Arab Times. Sources said the amount was specified by higher authorities, not the Cabinet.  Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Faisal Al-Hajji, without mentioning the amount, confirmed the increment will be announced officially on Feb 24, a day before the National and Liberation Days.

$500 more. Does that mean nationals will now consider paying timely minimum wages to maids, cooks and drivers in their employ ? For all you know some might actually, consider giving them a lumpsum bonus if not a raise.

The increase will only benefit Tycoons no one else. I rather have a good system to monitor living costs by having effective laws that penalty's "without exceptions" rather than increasing the salary.

Mabrouk to all Kuwaitis even in the midst of argument in the government. What about us? The new M.O.H. employees? 100kd monthly loan? We are affected, mainly we won't be able to close our files and receive our salary which we have been waiting for. Probably,80-90% of new male employees are disheartened and discouraged to pursue working here, the fact that food are getting scarce for them to be able to survive in work and the anxiety on how they can feed their family or send their children to school since April and May are the months for paying school fees in preparation for the new year of going to school on June 2008. This is also the same as for female M.O.H. employees who doesn't have resident certificate, civil id and additional travel fees going to South Sourra,Civil Service Commission(to verify what do we call them the "green form"?),transferring baggages to our new hostel, paying stamps and most of all the harassment of some Kuwaiti adolescents and an exhibitionist in the City on the dark parking area.
Being new in a country, alone or not,we are also prone to depression just like anybody else without the support from your government. Remember us, its been 2 to 5 months that we are staying and working at 100kd loan and our senior employees who patiently waiting for a meager salary increment and we have receive news from Civil Service Commission office that they will resume processing our papers on May 20, 2008.
